Footprint Birdie Birthday Card

Sometimes we plan out projects that we know will turn into a post, and sometimes something turns out so cute we just have to share. That's how it was with this Footprint Birdie Birthday Card we created for a family member this week.

This week was our "Pamma's" birthday, and the boys were excited to pick her out a hummingbird feeder as a gift. To go with her present we decided to put together this sweet card.

One of our very first posts included making these adorable Rockin' Robin Footprints, which we originally saw on Pinterest for inspiration. We decided to use the same process, but with different colors to create our birdies.

I worked with one boy at a time. Our goal was to create colorful birds, so they each got to pick their own color. First I used washable poster paint to paint the bottom of one foot. We printed the painted foot onto white card stock. I repeated the same process with the other kiddo.

As they were part way dried, I added bellies to each print (again the boys picked their colors.)

Once the paint was fully dry, I used permanent marker to draw on eyes, beaks, and legs. I also added the phrase "Have you heard the latest "tweet"? We think you're pretty neat!" Inside the card we wrote our personalized message.

The card was simple and sweet to put together. It would also make a great Mother's Day, Father's Day, or even Valentine's Day card for a special person!
