Cardboard Tube Easter Bunnies

The Easter holiday is almost here. This cute craft is pretty easy to put together and doesn't take too long to finish. Best of all, they use something you probably even have laying around: cardboard tubes!
We love finding ways to use up things we already have on hand, and for that same reason we're usually hanging on to things like cardboard tubes. You just never know when you might have a project with them, just like these fun Cardboard Tube Easter Bunnies!
Before getting to work I traced a bunny shape onto the front of each tube and a straight line across the back. Then I cut them out with scissors so they looked like the bunny below.

The boys each painted a few with white washable poster paint.

This was one of those projects that's great for little hands because even if they make a mess painting it you are not really going to know once it dries.

We let the paint dry. It can take about an hour or so, or you can let it dry over night and put the finishing touches on the next day like we did. Then it was time to add some fun details: nose, whiskers, eyes, and a bunny tail. We used tiny pastel buttons for the nose and small white pom poms for the tails. These small squeeze glues are perfect for projects like this. Again, even little hands can work them easily.

The boys glued on their noses and tails, and then used a very fine permanent marker to add on eyes and whiskers.

In the end we had a family of little Easter Bunnies. Our plan is to put them on our table Easter morning so they can hold eggs. But they could also make a neat napkin ring for Easter brunch!

Cheery little bunnies for a cheery Easter holiday!
