"Stuffed Snake" Stromboli (Kids Cook!)

A few years ago we originally made this stromboli for one of our Halloween parties, it quickly became a family favorite for dinner, although we don't always turn it into a snake . . .

As Big Brother has gotten a little older, he can really help with the whole recipe which makes it even more family friendly.

Ingredients:
1 package of pizza dough or you can make your own (We used to make our own until we discovered the Portland Pie Company sells a great pre-made frozen kind at our local store.)
1/4 lb sliced sandwich pepperoni
1/4 lb sliced hard salami
1/2 lb sliced provolone
1/2 cup pizza sauce

Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.
2. Roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle. Save a few small pieces to later create a tongue and eyes.

3. Spread the pizza sauce onto the dough leaving about an inch uncovered around the edge.

4. Layer the pepperoni, salami, and provolone onto the pizza crust (depending on how it's cut you may have extra, which you can save for something else.)

5. Starting on the long side of the rectangle roll the crust up, pulling the ingredients in as you roll it.

6. Pinch the bottom edge of the dough to the bottom of the roll to create a seam. Also pinch in both the rolled edges from the short sides.
7. Place the roll seam side down onto a cookie tray.
8. Use the remaining dough to create eyes, tongues, and stripes.

9. Bake in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the outer edge is a golden brown.

10. Let cool for a few minutes and then slice and serve.
It's kind of silly, but we have a lot of fun with it! And it tastes really good too!
